# Network services for schools

Edu24 provides three main network services: fibre broadband for an individual school, a private wide area network for organisations with several sites, and point-to-point connectivity between two locations.

## Three services

| Service | What it is | Suited to |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Fibre broadband | Dedicated, always-on, high-speed fibre connectivity | An individual primary, secondary or special school |
| Multi-site WAN | A secure private wide area network joining every site | Multi-academy trusts and other multi-site organisations |
| Point-to-point | High-capacity dedicated connectivity between two locations, available up to 100Gbps | Split-site schools, campuses and links to a data centre |

## Sized for the school day

Lessons, online assessment and school administration place concurrent demand on the same connection. Capacity needs to reflect how a school uses online resources, and not the size of its building.

We establish what is available at each address and agree the service around the applications in use and the demand they place on the connection. Fibre broadband and dedicated Ethernet serve different needs, and the choice is made per school.

- **Fibre broadband**: Selected by availability and capacity required
- **Dedicated Ethernet**: For sites requiring guaranteed capacity
- **Decided**: Per school, at its own address

## A second path

A second connection matters where an interruption would affect teaching, safeguarding systems, or the school office. Mobile failover sits alongside the school's fixed access and carries traffic if the fixed line is unavailable.

Circuits are monitored continuously for latency and loss, so a degrading connection is investigated before the school reports it.

- **Failover**: Mobile, alongside fixed access
- **Monitoring**: Continuous, for latency and loss
- **Faults**: Managed proactively

## Telephony alongside

School reception and office calls can be carried by hosted telephony over the same connection, with ring groups, call queues and time-of-day routing. Existing school telephone numbers are ported on an agreed date, with call handling defined before the move.

## Working with the school's IT provision

Connectivity is delivered to the school's own equipment, and supported directly or on behalf of the school's IT partner. The local network inside the school remains with whoever looks after it today.

- **Delivered to**: The school's own equipment
- **Supported**: Directly, or for your IT partner

## Find out what is available at your school

Tell us the school's address and how it uses its connection. We will confirm the access available and recommend a service.
