# How we run our own network

The plainest evidence for what we supply to other operators is that we depend on it ourselves. Netavo is an ISP and a network operator in its own right, and this is how its own network is built.

## The same services, used by us

Everything on these pages is something Netavo uses to serve its own customers. Our subscribers arrive from the same access networks, cross the same core, and are terminated on the same Netavo BNG software releases that we ship.

A fault in any of it is a fault for our own customers first.

- **Access**: The same UK access networks
- **Core**: Our own, AS208802
- **Termination**: Netavo BNG, the releases we ship

## How our network is built

| Layer | How we do it |
| --- | --- |
| Access | Broadband from Openreach, CityFibre, KCOM and MS3, and our own equipment in unbundled Openreach exchanges |
| Openreach | A direct relationship as a communications provider, with orders, appointments and faults placed from our own systems |
| Core | Our own core network, present at Telehouse North, Telehouse East and Pulsant Manchester |
| Subscriber termination | Netavo BNG, terminating live wholesale L2TP in production |
| Address sharing | CGNAT on the same platform, with port-block logging |
| Internet | AS208802, a LINX member peering on LON1 and LON2, and a RIPE NCC member |

## Unbundled exchanges

In a number of exchanges we have gone further than buying a wholesale service, and installed our own equipment. Lines served from these unbundled exchanges connect directly to our network, giving us control of the service from the exchange onwards.

## A BNG built by its own first customer

Netavo BNG carries production traffic on our own network, on the same software releases we ship to customers. It is built by people who operate a network, for people who do the same.

That is the difference between a product specified from a requirements list and one whose authors are woken when it fails.

- **In production**: On Netavo's own network
- **Releases**: The same software we ship

## What that means for an operator buying from us

You are buying from a peer, not from a reseller of someone else's platform. The design we recommend is one we would run, and the engineers you speak to are the ones who run it.

- **Supplier**: An operator in its own right
- **Design**: What we would run ourselves
- **Support**: The engineers who operate it

## Talk to the people who run it

Tell us about your network and what you are trying to build. An engineer will reply.
