Industrial IoT & Remote Assets
Netavo provides multi-network mobile data and private connectivity for industrial IoT and remote assets in the UK and overseas. We connect manufacturers' and operators' equipment to their central systems, with addressing and data allowances agreed around how each device operates.
What the sector requires
Industrial equipment may be installed at unattended locations with no fixed line. Mobile availability varies between sites, while a visit to replace or reconfigure a connection can interrupt maintenance schedules. Connectivity needs to be considered alongside the equipment's location and the systems that receive its data.
A fleet can include devices sending small regular readings and equipment transferring larger diagnostic files. Manufacturers and operators need allowances that reflect those differences, a private route to central systems where required, and a way to activate or suspend connections as equipment enters or leaves service.
- Remote locationsAccess to more than one mobile network
- Private data pathsConnectivity to the systems receiving device data
- Equipment lifecycleActivation and suspension as assets enter or leave service
- Variable usageAllowances suited to different reporting patterns
How we support it
Connectivity for device manufacturers and asset operators as well as services delivered for industrial IoT partners.
| Requirement | How we meet it |
|---|---|
| Connectivity at unattended sites | Multi-network SIMs with access to all four UK mobile networks and multi-network access overseas |
| SIMs suited to the equipment | Physical SIMs in standard and industrial formats, plus eSIM options |
| A private route to central systems | Private device addressing and an encrypted tunnel to your own network |
| Cloud-hosted device platforms | Private cloud interconnect into AWS or Azure |
| Different data usage across assets | Allowances per SIM or pooled across the fleet |
| Managing connections throughout equipment life | Activation, suspension and usage reporting in the portal and by API |
| Fixed sites alongside remote devices | Fibre and Ethernet access alongside mobile devices on one private network |
Connecting equipment to your existing systems
Internet access or a private fleet
A device can use a standalone internet connection, or the fleet can share a private network with no public exposure. The choice depends on where its data must go and how your application is reached. A private fleet can connect to your own network, a cloud environment or an existing corporate WAN.
Connectivity for your monitoring equipment
Netavo supplies the data connection used by your devices and applications. The sensors, industrial equipment and monitoring platform remain part of your deployment. On a private SIM network, devices do not need public addresses or a separate encrypted tunnel running on each device.
A typical engagement
A typical engagement begins with a device and a deployment plan covering installation locations, reporting patterns and the destination for its data. We agree coverage, data allowances and addressing around how the equipment operates, then supply inactive SIMs for fitting during manufacture or installation.
Connections are activated as units are deployed. The manufacturer, operator or partner manages activation, suspension and usage through the portal or by API, with allowances adjusted as the fleet grows and connections ceased as equipment is retired.
