Conversion Formulas
dBm expresses power on a logarithmic scale relative to one milliwatt. Watts and milliwatts express power on a linear scale.
- mW = 10(dBm / 10)
- W = 10((dBm − 30) / 10)
- dBm = 10 × log10(mW) = 10 × log10(W) + 30
- 1 W = 1,000 mW
Negative dBm values describe positive power below one milliwatt. Zero watts has no finite dBm value; negative watts are outside this converter's scope.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can dBm Be Negative?
Yes. In the Netavo converter, negative dBm means positive power below one milliwatt. It does not mean negative watts.
Is dBm the Same as dB?
No. dBm expresses power relative to one milliwatt. A dB value expresses a ratio; it does not specify an absolute power on its own.
