Alarm Signalling & Critical Paths

Netavo provides fire and intruder alarm signalling that does not depend on a copper line, with up to four paths from each site, each verified continuously. Compliant with the European standards for alarm transmission, and integrated with the main UK alarm receiving centres.

Up to four paths from every site

Each path is verified separately, and each mobile path can itself use more than one network, so the loss of a broadband line or a mobile network does not prevent a signal from being delivered.

Path What it is
Ethernet The site's own wired connection
Wi-Fi The site's wireless network, as a second fixed path
Mobile A A multi-network SIM, able to use more than one mobile network
Mobile B A second, independent multi-network SIM

Continuous path verification

Conventional signalling often discovers a failed backup path only when the primary path also fails. Our units verify every path continuously, so a fault is reported while there is still time to resolve it.

  • VerificationAbout every 30 seconds on every path
  • TransportEncrypted and mutually authenticated
  • FirmwareUpdated remotely

Standards compliance

Our signalling is compliant with the European standards that govern how fire and intruder alarms are transmitted.

Standard What it covers
EN 54-21 Alarm transmission and fault warning routing equipment for fire detection and fire alarm systems
EN 50136-1 Alarm transmission systems: the general requirements, including the performance and monitoring of the transmission path
EN 50136-2 The supervised premises transceiver, the equipment at the protected site
EN 50136-3 The receiving centre transceiver, the equipment at the alarm receiving centre
EN 50131 Intrusion and hold-up alarm systems

Integrated with the main UK alarm receiving centres

A signal is only useful once it reaches someone able to act on it. Our signalling is integrated with all of the main alarm receiving centres in the United Kingdom, so installers can keep the monitoring arrangements they and their customers already rely on.

Moving a site to our signalling changes how the alarm is transmitted. It does not require a change of alarm receiving centre.

How signalling is delivered

01

Design

We establish which paths each site can support, covering wired, wireless and the mobile networks available at the panel’s location, and confirm the alarm receiving centre.

02

Deliver

The unit is installed alongside the panel and every path proven before handover, with the existing line retained until the new service is live.

03

Operate

Every path is monitored continuously, and a failed path is reported to you promptly.

Common questions

Which standards does Netavo's alarm signalling comply with?

Netavo's alarm signalling is compliant with EN 54-21, EN 50136-1, EN 50136-2, EN 50136-3 and EN 50131.

Which alarm receiving centres does it work with?

Netavo's signalling is integrated with all of the main alarm receiving centres in the United Kingdom, so a site does not need to change ARC.

Is it a replacement for Redcare?

Yes. Netavo's signalling does not depend on a copper line and is designed as a replacement for Redcare, using up to four paths: Ethernet, Wi-Fi and two multi-network mobile SIMs.

How often is each signalling path checked?

Every path is verified about every 30 seconds, so a failed path is reported while there is still time to resolve it.
