SOGEA Business Broadband, Without a Phone Line

Netavo provides SOGEA broadband for sites that full fibre has not yet reached: the same fibre-to-the-cabinet connection businesses have used for years, ordered on its own without a telephone line, carried on our own core network. Where FTTP is available we provide that instead, so every site in an estate gets the best connection its address allows.

Broadband that no longer needs a phone line

SOGEA replaces FTTC broadband. The connection is the same, but it is ordered and rented on its own, so there is no unused telephone line to pay for, and one service to support rather than two. As the UK's analogue phone network is withdrawn, it is how part-fibre broadband is supplied.

We order SOGEA directly from Openreach as a communications provider, and carry the traffic across our own core network rather than handing it to someone else's. Orders, appointments and faults are handled from our own systems.

The right connection for each address

Every address is checked before anything is ordered, and each site gets the best service available to it.

Service Speeds When we use it
Business FTTP broadband Up to 2300M Wherever full fibre is available
SOGEA broadband Up to 80/20 Sites full fibre has not yet reached
Ethernet over SOGEA or FTTP Within the line's speed Ethernet service at smaller sites, without a dedicated build
Ethernet DIA 100M – 10G Sites that need dedicated, symmetrical capacity
Mobile failover — A second path on any of the above

Moving from FTTC and a phone line

01

Check every address

We confirm which sites can take full fibre and which need SOGEA, and list what currently uses each phone line.

02

Plan what uses the line

Calls move to cloud voice and numbers are ported. Alarms, lift lines and payment terminals that dial out are identified for replacement.

03

Re-provide the broadband

The service is moved to SOGEA or FTTP and the router reconnected, site by site or in planned batches across an estate.

04

Cease what is left

Once each site is confirmed working, the old phone line is ceased so nothing is paid for twice.

SOGEA for resellers and partners

Partners sell SOGEA and full fibre to their own customers under their own brand. They check availability and price lines through our API, give their customers a portal in their own brand, and invoice them at their own prices, while we order, deliver and monitor every line behind them.

Because the network behind it is ours, a partner can offer more than broadband: a site's line can join a private MPLS WAN, with mobile failover and cloud voice on the same service.

ISPs can also take SOGEA wholesale alongside FTTP, handed over by L2TP to their own network, as part of our wholesale broadband service.
