Education

Netavo is experienced in providing internet connectivity and private WAN for UK state and independent schools and multi-academy trusts, with cloud voice alongside. We connect individual schools and shared trust systems, with access and resilience designed around the sites involved.

What the sector requires

Lessons, online assessment and school administration can place concurrent demand on the same connection. Capacity needs to reflect how a school uses online resources, rather than the size of the building alone. A second path matters where interruption would affect essential administrative or communication systems.

A trust may also need schools to reach shared systems privately while accommodating different access options at each address. New schools joining the trust, contract renewals and installation work need coordination with the school calendar and the team responsible for local IT.

How we support it

Access and networking selected for each school and the wider trust design.

Requirement How we meet it
Internet access for an individual school Fibre access selected according to availability and the school's capacity requirement
Dedicated bandwidth for a busy site Ethernet access for sites requiring guaranteed capacity
Private access to shared trust systems Private routing between schools and central sites on our own core network
Different access options across a trust A private WAN combining the access types available at each address
A backup connection Mobile failover alongside the school's fixed access
Visibility of connection faults Continuous circuit monitoring of latency and loss with proactive fault management
School reception and office calls Hosted telephony with ring groups, call queues and time-of-day routing
Retaining school telephone numbers Number porting on an agreed date with call handling defined before migration
Working with the school's existing IT provision Connectivity delivered to your own equipment and supported directly or for your IT partner

Defining the school's network requirement

Access is selected by requirement. Fibre and dedicated Ethernet serve different capacity needs. We establish what is available at each address and agree the service around the applications in use, the demand they place on the connection and the need for a mobile second path.

A trust network links shared services. Private routing allows schools and central sites to form one network despite differences in local access. The connectivity design is agreed with the trust's IT team or partner alongside the systems they operate.

Internet access is one part of the school's IT provision. Netavo provides the connection and private networking. Filtering, safeguarding applications and the local school network need to be addressed with the school's responsible IT providers; they are not included in the connectivity capabilities described here.

A typical engagement

A typical engagement starts with a school approaching contract renewal or a trust bringing newly joined schools onto a common network. We establish available access at each site and agree capacity, private routing and failover with the trust or its IT partner. Installation and migration are scheduled to suit the school calendar, with number moves coordinated where telephony is included. Circuits are then monitored continuously, and further schools can be added using the same network design principles.
